My steaming cup of fresh brewed coffee begins to awaken me as I gaze out the window of my living room in Oregon. Sunlight brightens a blue morning sky and spills down over the valley, bringing life to the tall evergreens and farms that dot the rolling landscape. I can see the coastal mountains at the end of the horizon, standing like guardians over the great Pacific Ocean beyond.
Today is Easter! No, I’m not standing in rainy St. Peter’s Square as Pope Francis administers blessings over the crowd, followed by waves from his popemobile as the driver makes his way through the square. But in my mind’s eye I can envision it all. When Pope Benedict was announced as the new Pope, I was there.
My thoughts gather around another Easter years ago, when I happened to be in Greece while Easter was being celebrated in Italy. Afterwards, I took a ferry-boat to Italy. A few days later Easter was being celebrated in Greece! So I can honestly say that I ‘missed’ Easter that year. Read my post Our ‘Passed-Over’ Easter.
Today I am happy to be celebrating at home while I plan for my next exciting adventure to Italy. I think about all of you, scattered around different parts of the world. I am thankful for each one of you. I hope that your Easter day is, was or will be a time of renewal, a time to be grateful, and a time to enjoy those around you. No matter where you are, it is a day to be cherished.
Easter Blessings, everyone!
Fabulous pic!! We hope to be in Rome for Christmas and/or Easter one of these years. It will have to be after the grandkids are older though. They want the nonni home for the holidays. 🙂

I hope you do go! I understand how it is with grandkids. I have my first one who is 8 months old and it’s incredibly hard to leave him for any length of time. I am nonni, and I love it:)

What a beautiful shot! I didn’t realize you lived in Oregon. I was just there (in Portland) for 10 days and had an amazing time. I love your state…it’s just beautiful!

Oh it would have been fun to meet for a coffee or vino! Do you come often?

It would have been lovely! I wish I had known! My husband is a management consultant and has a project at Nike right now, which brings him to Portland from Monday to Fridays. I took advantage of the girls’ Spring break to go out and visit him for a change. I might just be back in the summer, if the project continues. I will definitely let you know!

Hi Susan – Easter looks to be just as beautiful in Oregon as it would be in Italy. Hope you had a blessed holiday with family and friends taking in the wonders of Nature’s beauty set out before us as it reawakens for another season.

Thank you, Susan. We did get out in it a little but mostly just hung around home for Easter. I’m enjoying this Spring season where everything is beginning to wake up. 🙂

Thanks! I was home nursing a chest cold…but the family kept sending me photos on my phone of the Easter dinner event, so I feel like I was part of it.
